A Molded Part Is Not a Finished Part

Most RIM manufacturers stop at the mold. The part comes out, and from there, it is your problem: find a finisher, coordinate a painter, manage a separate assembly vendor, and hope the tolerances still hold when the part arrives back at your facility.

Rimnetics takes a different approach. Every finishing operation is performed in the same facility where your part is molded. Trimming, deflashing, CNC machining, painting, decorating, hardware insertion, and final assembly are not subcontracted to outside vendors — they are performed by the same team, under the same ISO 9001:2015 registered quality system, on the same production floor.

The result is a part that ships production-ready, not a part that ships to your next vendor.

A Molded Part Is Not a Finished Part

RIM Finishing Services & Capabilities

Rimnetics provides a full range of in-house finishing, painting, decorating, machining, and assembly services to deliver production-ready RIM components.

Trimming & Deflashing

Every RIM part is trimmed, deflashed, and finished in-house to remove excess material and prepare it for downstream operations.

  • ✓Hand trimming and/or mechanical deflashing
  • ✓Removal of flash, gates, sprues, and parting-line material
  • ✓Sanding and surface preparation
  • ✓Edge finishing and cleanup

CNC Machining & Secondary Operations

When parts require features beyond the mold, Rimnetics performs precision machining and secondary operations in-house to achieve final specifications.

  • ✓Drilling and tapping
  • ✓CNC routing and profile trimming
  • ✓Cutouts for displays, connectors, and ventilation
  • ✓Machining of mounting and assembly features
  • ✓Gluing operations

Why In-House Finishing Matters

When finishing is outsourced, production can slow down and quality becomes harder to manage. By performing every post-mold operation in-house, Rimnetics maintains greater control over your project from molding through final assembly.

  • ✓Fewer vendor handoffs
  • ✓Shorter lead times
  • ✓Reduced risk of shipping damage
  • ✓Better quality control
  • ✓One point of contact throughout production

FAQ

RIM Finishing, Painting, & Assembly FAQs

What finishing operations do Rimnetics perform in-house?+
Rimnetics performs trimming and deflashing, CNC machining and secondary operations, primer and topcoat painting, texture coating, hardware insertion, threaded insert installation, and final assembly — all in the same Loomis, CA facility where parts are molded. No finishing operations are subcontracted to outside vendors.
What types of paint finishes are available for RIM parts?+
Rimnetics offers primer application, color topcoats matched to RAL, Pantone, or customer-specified standards, and texture coatings in matte, satin, high-gloss, or custom profiles. Multi-coat systems are available for parts with specific cosmetic or durability requirements. Paint is applied in a controlled environment and inspected before shipment.
Can Rimnetics match a specific paint color or texture?+
Yes. Rimnetics works with customers to define and validate finish standards before production begins. Color matching to customer-specified standards and texture approval are part of the process.
What CNC machining operations are available after molding?+
Post-mold CNC operations include precision drilling, tapping, routing, cutouts, and trimming to final net dimensions. Because machining is performed in the same facility as molding, dimensions are verified against the original mold geometry without requiring a separate re-inspection step.
Does Rimnetics perform hardware insertion and assembly?+
Yes. Rimnetics installs threaded inserts, studs, standoffs, clips, panels, labels, and sub-assemblies as part of finishing. When the RIM part is the structural backbone of a larger product, Rimnetics can deliver a complete, assembled unit ready for integration into your product line.
How does Rimnetics handle quality inspection for finished parts?+
Quality inspection is embedded throughout the finishing process, not performed only at the end of the line. Dimensional verification, cosmetic inspection, and hardware checks are performed at each stage. All inspection activities are documented under the ISO 9001:2015 quality system, with traceability records available for regulated programs.
Can finishing requirements be incorporated into the initial design review?+
Yes, and they should be. When Rimnetics engineers review a CAD file, they evaluate the part for final finish as well as moldability. Parting-line placement, surface texture, draft angles for paint adhesion, and hardware locations are all considered during the design phase.
Where are finishing and assembly performed?+
Every finishing, painting, and assembly operation is performed at our Loomis, California facility — the same production floor where your part is molded — under one ISO 9001:2015 registered quality system.
